چکیده

Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) antigen was demonstrated in lungs, lymphoid tissues, intestines, and testes and accessory sex glands of an 11-month-old boar from a boar stud with a history of recent illness and infertility. At necropsy, the lungs failed to collapse and there was moderate cranioventral bronchopneumonia. Microscopically, there was severe multifocal suppurative and histiocytic bronchointerstitial pneumonia with severe peribronchiolar lymphoid hyperplasia. Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae nucleic acids were demonstrated in lung by polymerase chain reaction (PCR), and moderate numbers of Pasteurella multocida type D were isolated from the lungs. There was mild to moderate lymphoid depletion and histiocytic replacement of follicles in lymphoid tissues associated with PCV2 antigen. Immunohistochemistry revealed PCV2specific staining in the cytoplasm of macrophages and fibroblast-like cells in the interstitium of the seminal vesicles, and PCV2 nucleic acids were demonstrated in semen by nested PCR. These findings suggest that PCV2 was part of the disease complex that contributed to the illness in this boar.

Complex Links between Natural Tuberculosis and Porcine Circovirus Type 2 Infection in Wild Boar

Individuals in natural populations are exposed to a diversity of pathogens which results in coinfections. The aim of this study was to investigate the relation between natural infection with tuberculosis (TB) due to infection by bacteria of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex and porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) in free-ranging Eurasian wild boar (Sus scrofa). Apparent prevalence for TB lesi...

Tolnidamine-Induced Changes in the Testis, Sperm Count, Fertility and Accessory Sex Glands of the Laboratory Mouse

Background Tolnidamine-induced changes have been reported earlier on spermatogenesis, fertility and sperm count in rat, rabbit and langur monkey. The aim of this study is to assess the response of these aspects to tolnidamine in the laboratory mouse. MaterialsAndMethods Adult male mice (12-14 weeks old) of Parkes (P) strain were used in the present study. All the animals were divided into five ...

O-14: Effect of Kisspeptin on Testicular Tissue and Accessory Sex Glands, Seminal Vesicle and Prostate, in Prepubertal Rats

Background: Hypothalamus-derived kisspeptins are critical regulators of reproduction in nearly all mammalian species including the humans. These small peptides mediate their actions through the GnRH loop system. How kisspeptins regulate gonadal maturation in sexually immature male mammals remains elusive. To address this, kisspeptin was administered as subchronic (12 days) twice daily i. p. dos...

Severity of Bovine Tuberculosis Is Associated with Co-Infection with Common Pathogens in Wild Boar

Co-infections with parasites or viruses drive tuberculosis dynamics in humans, but little is known about their effects in other non-human hosts. This work aims to investigate the relationship between Mycobacterium bovis infection and other pathogens in wild boar (Sus scrofa), a recognized reservoir of bovine tuberculosis (bTB) in Mediterranean ecosystems. For this purpose, it has been assessed ...

Assessement of Reproductive Toxicity Induced by Deltamethrin In Male Albino Rats

Introduction: Pyrethroids are important insecticides because of their high activity and low mammalian toxicity. Some studies have demonstrated that these insecticides, especially compounds with an -cyano group, produce toxic effects on various biological systems. Deltamethrin (DTM) is a Type II synthetic pyrethroid insecticide containing -cyano group and is used worldwide in agriculture, ho...
